The next workshop is scheduled for September 8, 2007 in Bentonville, AR. More details will be added soon.
A workshop was April 28th at Baptist Health in North Little Rock. The morning started
with a slide show presentation by William F. Alfonso, DDS. Dr. Alfonso shared pictures and information about his recent mission trip to Honodurus. The slide show was very informative and interesting. There is another trip planned for this October if you are interested in doing mission work in third world countries with Dr. Alfonso and his group contact Katie Hanshaw for more information.
Tom Walker, CST, AAS from Tennenesse shared his thoughts and professional outlook on the importance of being a Surgical Technology Professional. He infasized his presentation on taking pride in being a Surgical Technologist as well as being professional. He even brought along shirts to sale with the logo “Surgical Technology is my Profession”.
John Ratliff, CST, from Kansas gave the group information on moving forward with legislation and some of the things that were being done in surrounding states. He also encouraged everyone that was not certified to do so. He encouraged all the students in attendance to get involved in the State Assembly and AST.
The day wrapped up with a hands on workshop with Auto Suture sales representative Lucile Sausen. She shared some of the newest products that autosuture has out in the area hospitals. Lucile went through them one at a time with an instructional video showing how each piece of equipment worked and then gave everyone an opportunity to try it out. This was a great time for everyone.
We would like to thank Lucile and Auto Suture for providing lunch for the workshop and for the travel mugs she gave to everyone who attended.Although there was probably many other things that anyone of us could have done on a beautiful Saturday, the workshop was time well spent. The information shared was helpful and informative and the hands on workshop was a great deal of fun and educational.
Door prizes were awarded to some lucky ticket holders: Amanda Garrett won a T-shirt from Tom Walker, Melissa McKinney, Amber Shapter and Julie Walker won gift cards to Best Buy.
I am sure you won’t want to miss the next workshop which is tentatively scheduled for September in Bentonville.
